The film actor, theatre personality, playwrighter and director Utpal Dutta was born on 29 th March, 1929 in Bangladesh. He studied from St. Edmund School and St. Xavier s School and College. He first tried his hands in theatre with Richard King III with his character as the king Othelo and renamed the group as Little Theatre Group. He is one of the founders of IPTA. He won Sangeet Natak Academy for the lifetime contribution. He was recognised with other awards like Filmfare, Bengal Journalist Association Award. he died on 19 th Aug, 1993.
